If the baseline for defenses is going to be nullsec behavior, how can we ensure that this system won't be overpowering in wh space? Seems like some of these would be incredibly hard to overcome in lower tier wormholes. Hell, even in c5s.

My main problem with them is that you can't deal with assets from afk members. CEO or directors should be able to take stuff out. So instead we have had to shoot them in the past to be able to take a POS down. Not sure if that mechanic changed.

There have been such a large number of quality of life improvements that I think it's almost possible. I think you still have to be diligent and roll if you don't get a worthwhile null. And rolling is not fun right now.
